What is Christian Counselling?
This term can mean many different things depending on who is answering the question. In short, my particular practice utilises a blend of effective and accepted therapeutic approaches to counselling within a solid Christian theological framework. To ensure the best outcomes for my clients I draw on my clinical training through Charles Sturt University and St Marks National Theological College and combine this with experience gained working in the field of chronic addiction and my own personal faith journey. I am open to using accepted psychological interventions, provided they align with Christian theology, and I will always encourage clients to pray and invite God into the healing process as he is the Master Physician.
What if I'm not Christian, can I still come?
For various reasons some clients will decide to see a specifically Christian counsellor even though they do not share a Christian world view. This is often the case when couples are seeking relationship counselling and one spouse wants to work with a Christian Counsellor. Regardless of an individuals reasoning, I’m more than happy to assist in any way I can.
How many sessions will I need?
Sorry to be vague, but the answer is ‘it depends”. Sometimes a client may only require one or two sessions to help them along the road towards recovery, other more complex issues may require long-term support. Each individual brings their own unique circumstances. Remember, the ball is always in your court, you’re in charge of the process.
How much does it cost?

What should I expect from my first session?
Your initial session will include a little paperwork that covers confidentiality, personal information, fees and any relevant medical history. The remainder of the session is primarily an opportunity for the counsellor to gather information about the issues that have brought you to seek counselling in the first place. It is also an opportunity for you to assess the counsellor – to make sure you feel comfortable.
How long are the sessions?
Each session is approximately 50 minutes in duration.
What is considered confidential?
Your counsellor will explain this in more detail at the beginning of your first session however there are two clear exceptions to confidentially. The first is if the counsellor assesses that you are likely to harm yourself or someone else; the second is in relation to mandatory reporting or court orders.
